A few days ago we toured several properties in West Asheville.  As you know, I do my best to stay current on all the modern and mid-century properties in the Asheville area. Hey, don’t feel sorry for me- it is my job and someone has to be on the lookout for those modern and mid-century gems for you modernists out there. Here are a few of our discoveries.

MODERN ZEN IN MALVERN HILLS (more on this great neighborhood soon)

This ranch has been beautifully renovated inside and out by the current owner. The home has a stunning, open living space with gourmet kitchen, fireplace and rows and rows of windows bringing the outside in. Upstairs there is a lofted flex space with walnut floors, closets and bath. Surrounding the home is a serene, Japanese-inspired garden……..ah, peaceful and beautifully modern!

1950’S RANCH – PROJECT ANYONE?

This house, also in Malvern Hills, is a 1950’s ranch, first time on the market and ready for a total renovation. Lots of paneling and hard-wood floors nicely protected under the carpet (thank you very much). Many interesting built-ins. A nicely landscaped and terraced backyard could be stunning. We will keep our eyes on this one.

GRANDVIEW- YOU BET!!!

The third house was a real surprise for us. Located on the far east side of West Asheville, this home on Grandview has been completely renovated to take full advantage of the amazing view. The house is all about the view and what a VIEW it is. There are INCREDIBLE long-range views of the French Broad River, Downtown Asheville and the Mountains. Now I understand where this street gets it’s name- Grandview!!! The home includes a detached artist studio/workshop space and several decks to enjoy……wait for it……..the VIEW!
